Who

Main contractors, subcontractors, fit-out, MEP and civils. Ten to eighty people, running several jobs at once.

The problem today

The job is priced in one place, bought in another, certified in a third, and nobody knows the margin until it is over.

The screens only this trade gets

The tools of your trade, not a generic form.

On top of the accounting, sales, stock and people every business gets, this is what Orbit adds for your work.

Tenders that become projects

Win a tender and it opens as a project with its budget and schedule of values already in place, ready to certify against.

Progress certificates & retention

Certify a percentage of the schedule of values, hold the retention back automatically, and post the certificate to the ledger in one step.

Variations kept in order

Log every variation against the contract so the account you certify is always the account you agreed, not the one you priced.

Job cost & project P&L

Every purchase, subcontract and timesheet lands on a cost code, so the margin on each job is live, not a year-end surprise.

And the whole company underneath

This is one part of a system that runs the whole business.

The trade screens above sit on the same core every Orbit company gets, so the work and the books are never two systems.

The moneyDouble-entry accounting, invoicing, payments, VAT and the reports an accountant asks for.
The workQuotes, orders, purchasing, multi-warehouse stock and projects, all tied to the ledger.
The peopleEmployees, attendance, leave and payroll, with roles down to the record.
The platformApprovals, your own fields and words, an audit trail, and your brand on every print.

Answers

Questions people in your trade ask.

What does a progress certificate need to include?
A progress certificate shows the work certified to date against the schedule of values, the amount certified this period, any variations, the retention held back, and the net now due. In Orbit you certify a percentage of each line and it works out the retention and the net, then posts the certificate to the ledger so the invoice and the accounts always agree.
How do I track retention on a construction contract?
Set the retention percentage on the contract and Orbit holds it back on every certificate automatically, keeps a running total of what is retained, and releases it when you say so. You always know what is held, on which job, and when it is due back.
What is the best software for construction job costing?
The one where the cost lands on the job as it happens. In Orbit every purchase order, subcontract and timesheet is booked to a cost code on the project, so the job cost and the project profit are live while you can still do something about them, not assembled from spreadsheets after handover.

See Orbit on your own numbers.

Win a tender, watch it become a project with its budget and schedule of values in place, then certify 30 per cent and show the retention held back.
